PROJECTS
HUMMINGBIRD
An oil painting I did of a Hummingbird. It was made using tinted gesso as an underpainting and coating oil paints on top. This piece was entered into the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Competition and won a Gold Key, for which it was hung in Barton College for a month with other winners.
MY TWIN SISTER IS A GHOST!
I drew the first page of a graphic novel based on an original story I wrote called, “My Twin Sister Is a Ghost!” I was inspired to create a novel by my love for animation and sequential art. I spent about a week drawing this picture using the program, FireAlpaca.
YELLOW RAIN BOOTS
In this piece, the underpainting was very tedious with the breaks in values that I painted with the tinted gesso, but when I added the oil paint, the hard work shined through. I like how this piece turned out, the subtly in the blue puddle contrasted greatly with the yellow rain boots, making the entire painting stand out even more.
THE BIRD
For my model, I incorporated the two principles, Rhythm and Gradient, to create a spinning, descending motion where the ‘wings’ of the model bring the eyes of the viewer into the center of the design.
